With the blueprint in this book I’ve created a control system for all the trains. It is based on the implementation of the Logistic-Train-Network mod by Optera. The Train Limit property that is provided since version 1.1 was the reason to do so.
This book contains:
– a few track blueprints (right-hand-drive) to layout the global train network,
– fuel stations for 3 train configurations (1, 2 or 3 locomotives),
– 3 provider stations with chests and 3 provider stations for liquids,
– 3 requester stations with chests and 3 requester stations for liquids,
– one small example track.
How does it work?
The power poles following all the tracks are wired with a Green and a Red wire. The Green wire contains an encoded signal of all the items that are Provided somewhere in the train network. The Red wire contains an encoded signal of all the items that are Requested somewhere in the train network.
– Trains wait at their Fuel station until there is both a Provider AND a Requester station available for the item the train wants to pick up and deliver. Only then, the train will depart. – You can address 5 different train configurations per item transported.
What do you have to do?
1) Make sure the Global Train Network is connected so that all the stations can tap on the network.
2) When placing a Provider station (use one of the 3 example blueprints to choose the correct train configuration): – Place the provided item in the Constant Combinator in the correct stack size. (e.g. 50 Iron ore). – Connect the Green wire (close to the Train Stop) to the Global Train Network.
3) When placing a Requester station: – Place the requested item in the Constant Combinator in the correct stack size. (e.g. 50 Iron ore). – Connect the Red wire (close to the Train Stop) to the Global Train Network.
4) Create (at least one) train refuel depot with refuel stations for all train configurations. The trains will wait here until they can collect and deliver their cargo, so this is a perfect (central) spot to refuel them.
– Create enough Fuel Stations for every train configuration.
– Place a Train Size Selector blueprint for each train configuration you use and set the train index (in the Constant Combinator) to the correct index (1 to 5).
– Connect the Medium Power Pole to both the Green AND the Red wire of the Global Train Network.
– The Small Power Pole gives every item that is provided AND requested. Connect this signal to every Fuel Station of the corresponding train size.
5) Build a train and use the train schedule example to program it’s schedule.
– Provider station: wait untill full cargo
– Requester station: wait until empty cargo
– Fuel station: wait until:
– 5 seconds inactivity AND
– [requested item] > 0
That’s it! You can have a look at the small example track blueprint. The provider stations become active when there is some wood available for each cargo wagon and the requester stations become active when all the chest are empty.
I hope you like this solution. If you have any feedback, like suggections for improvements, leave a comment.
If you have any idea how to make the track blueprints rotatable properly, please let me know as well. (I would like to keep the grid snap feature.)
